Call for Mentors: GIIA Mentorship Program 2026

CALL FOR MENTORS

Sustainable Finance Geneva (SFG) and the Geneva Impact Investing Association (GIIA) have joined forces to strengthen the next generation of sustainable finance professionals. We are proud to launch the GIIA-SFG Mentorship Program.

This program will enable students to learn from experienced sustainable finance professionals and build their skills and knowledge. SFG is calling on its members and community to participate in this unique program as mentors. All details are available below.

Why become mentor ?

The GIIA-SFG Mentorship Program offers you the unique chance to share your expertise, wisdom, and connections to help young professionals navigate the complex landscape of sustainable finance and impact investing. Being a mentor is a rewarding experience and an excellent opportunity to pass on what you have learned throughout your career to someone just starting their own journey.

What are the requirements ?

To make the program accessible to as many people as possible, three sessions between mentees and mentors are planned. Mentors and mentees can, of course, stay in touch after the program if they wish. GIIA and SFG provide helpful resources such as discussion questions, mock interview guides, etc. to help pairs navigate their meetings.

  1. INTRODUCTIONS (one-on-one): In the first meeting, mentors will share insights about their own career path and answer mentees’ questions about the finance industry. The mentee will share their career goals and aspirations and ask for general advice on how to navigate the sector.
  2. CAREER ADVICE 1 (one-on-one): The second meeting is more career-focused. Mentees can ask mentors for feedback on their CV and cover letter, or the pair may choose to conduct a mock interview to help the mentee practice.
  3. CAREER ADVICE 2 (optional/one-on-one): The third meeting is an opportunity to build on previous discussions. Mentors can review CV edits, continue interview preparation, etc.
  4. NETWORKING APÉRO (group): To close the program, GIIA and SFG will bring all mentors and mentees together for an evening of networking and sharing.

Dates to keep in mind

  • Mentee-Mentor Matching: End of September
  • First Session: End of September or early October
  • Second Session: October
  • Third Session: November
  • Networking & Reflection Session: Early December

Testemony

“I had the pleasure of passing on my experience to a highly motivated GIIA student. Together, we explored her professional aspirations in the field of social impact, while finding the courage to dream big, plan effectively, and act quickly. A year later, I had the joy of seeing her at the Building Bridges summit, where she was leading a workshop on creating an impact investment fund for her alma mater. An acorn today, a forest tomorrow. I look forward to continuing to support GIIA’s mentorship program in the years ahead as a catalyst for change!” — SHI Yi, Client Portfolio Manager & Engagement Specialist, Pictet Asset Management

“It was an exciting experience to share knowledge with a student passionate about sustainable finance. This type of exchange is beneficial for both the mentee and the mentor.” — ESCHBACH Jérôme, Head of Sustainable Solutions, BNP Paribas

“It was a pleasure to take part in the mentorship program. I enjoyed meeting motivated students who are passionate about responsible investing and being able to support them in their future careers.” — DESSAIX Arthur, Investment Manager, CPEG

About Geneva Impact Investing Association (GIIA)

Established in September 2021, GIIA is a student-led initiative at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID), focusing on impact investing, sustainable finance, and ESG. Our mission is to foster the next generation of leaders in these fields by providing them with knowledge, networking opportunities, and practical experiences. Through this partnership with SFG, we aim to bridge the gap between academic understanding and professional practice in sustainable finance by offering mentorship to the students of IHEID, UNIGE and HEG.
